Creating a year plan results in bringing together a variety of ideas and resources to plan, create, and organize the experiences teachers anticipate students will participate in for the purpose of optimizing their development of literacy [science litearcy, mathematical literacy, or literature literacy].

These documents are used by the teacher or a grade level team to create their own personalized planning documents. Sometimes this is referred to as unpacking the standards. While most people associate content knowledge with an unpacking activity it is certainly a worthwhile endeavor to unpack other areas of the standards or other dimensions of literacy.
