Candle problems

Problem one:

image candleThere are two candles that were lit at the same time. The smaller candle takes 6 hours to burn out and the larger takes 15 hours. After 5 hours what fractional part of each candle would be left?

If the smaller candle was 1/2 the height of the larger, is it possible to find what fractional part the smaller is of the larger at this time? Explain:

 

 

Problem two:

 

A yellow candle is twice as long as a blue candle. The yellow candle takes 6 hours to burn out and the blue takes 15. After five hours what fractional part of each is left? The yellow candle's length is what fraction of the red candle's length? Explain:
