Give the following examples of a perfect necklace so students know the operational definition of one.
A necklace is perfect if the pattern repeats around the whole necklace so there is no one starting or stopping point. May need to draw the following to see what does and doesn't make a perfect necklace.
- A necklace with 5 red, 5 blue or 5 red 5 blue 5 red 5 blue is perfect.
- A necklace with 5 red 5 blue 5 red is not.
So what kinds of necklaces can be made?
