Lesson Sequence Planning Scenario around Investigations Mathematical Program

Imagine a mathematics methods student was given the assignment to create a sequence plan using the Investigations as a resource.

They were given the pages in the fifth level at this link to use as resources.

For what ever reason. Say for example they were thinking about teaching subtraction and not presently interested in multiplication or division so they looked at all the pages and found the pages with subtraction session 8 page 1, page 2, page 3, and page 4.

After looking at them they created this plan.

Upon taking the plan to class the teacher commented about it as a one day lesson plan and a two week sequence plan.
1. As a one day fifty minute lesson using a learning cycle instructional model.
2. As a several day sequence plan for number value and comparing two numbers difference in value.
However, after reviewing the information above the professor also commented that while understanding the mathematical content was important it wasn't the whole picture for mathematical literacy. And reminded the mathematical processes were important to consider when planning a sequence of activities to facilitate learning. He then suggested they ought to consider how they could bring the mathematical processes into their plan and if they weren't sure how, they might look at a couple of unfinished sequences for ideas. Counting sequence and addition and subtraction sequence.

So they took the information so far and begain to put it into the format of these plans -> the sequence with related processes.
